The Open Sea Birthday Card

Hi Everyone!

Welcome to another blog hop from The Artful Stampers team.  If you have hopped on over from Nicole's Blog welcome! This week we have a theme for our challenge; The Final Farewell:

Today we are saying goodbye to products retiring from the 2015-2016 Annual Catalogue and the Occasions Catalogue.

So I thought it would be a fun idea to take a step back in time and re create a card I made way back when The Open Sea stamp set first appeared. The Open Sea first appeared in the Summer Mini Catalogue from Dec 2011 - March 2012, and it actually retired, but then it made a comeback in the 2012-2013 Annual Catalogue, and has carried over in each catalogue until now, where it has finally retired. It has been my favourite go to Masculine stamp, although I'll admit, it hasn't been inked for a while.

Here is the card I made back in August 2012:

I love this card and I wanted to re create it, and make it a bit more brighter, using current products, here is what I created:

And I love it, It would be a really great card for a teenage boy.

Today's card has been made using mostly retiring products:

  • The Open Sea Stamp Set
  • Age Awareness Stamp Set
  • Farmers Market DSP
  • Lost Lagoon Cardstock
  • Lost Lagoon Ink
  • 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch
  • Early Espresso Ink (Not retiring)
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock (Not retiring)
  • Paper Piercing Tool (Not retiring)
  • Stamping Sponges (Not retiring)
And as always I have stamped the inside of the card:

I hope you have enjoyed my little step back in time, and inspired you to take a look at cards you have made in the past and re create them using current products. So which one do you like the most? Now it's time to hop on over to Mercia's Blog and see what she has created this week!

Here is a list of this week's participants:

See you next week!
